NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Chrysler says it is putting its Newark assembly plant up for sale.
Chrysler spokesman Ed Saenz isn't saying how much the automaker wants for the facility.
The 57-year-old plant is scheduled to close in late 2009 and will officially be put on the market this week.
About 1,100 workers assemble Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen sport utility vehicles in Newark. Chrysler is preparing to make a more-efficient hybrid version there this summer.
Saenz says the property for sale includes the Mopar parts distribution center, which employs about 150 workers.
The director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, Judy McKinney-Cherry, says her agency is trying to find a new business for the property.
