MORAINE, Ohio (AP) -- Hundreds of employees are returning to work at a Dayton, Ohio-area General Motors Corp. plant that was idled by the strike at a major parts supplier.
Workers reporting for Monday's first shift at the GM sport utility vehicle plant in suburban Moraine had been on layoff since the second week of March. That was due to the strike against American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc.
On Friday, the United Auto Workers announced a tentative agreement with the parts maker. Union members are voting on the contract this week.
GM announced plans to restart the Moraine plant even before the deal was announced, because the automaker said it had enough parts to bring back the roughly 1,200 first-shift workers.
