Company Moving 80 Jobs From Mexico To Iowa

Tech Group Industries, a manufacturer of electrical devices for cars, appliance and cell phones, plans to move 80 jobs from Mexico to North Liberty, Iowa.

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) -- A manufacturer of electrical devices for cars, appliances and cell phones has announced plans to move 80 jobs from Mexico to North Liberty.

Tech Group Industries expects to initially move the jobs to a plant in Evansdale, Ind., where the company is headquartered. By October, Tech Group plans to move the work to North Liberty.

Company officials say they will likely move into a site currently used as a Whirlpool Corp. distribution center. Whirlpool announced last fall that it planned to close the site.

Tech Group president and co-owner John Laine says the plant will serve a client in the refrigeration business, but he declined to name them.

Tech Group Industries also has a plant in Fort Smith, Ark.
