Tree Top Paying Fine For Clean Air Violations

Company has agreed to pay more than $89,000 for violations under the Clean Air Act at a juice processing plant in Prosser, Wash.

SEATTLE (AP) -- Tree Top Inc. has agreed to pay more than $89,000 for violations under the Clean Air Act at a juice processing plant in Prosser, Wash.

Mike Bussell of the Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday that Tree Top's emergency prevention program didn't meet Clean Air Act requirements, and the company agreed to pay a penalty.

But Bussell says Tree Top has since taken corrective steps to protect both its employees and the community.

The violations centered on a prevention program for releases of anhydrous ammonia, which is used for refrigeration. The violations were discovered during an EPA inspection in June 2006.
