Tomotherapy To Acquire Chinese Equipment Maker

Radiation therapy device maker plans to buy Chengdu Twin Peak Accelerator Technology, manufacturer of equipment used to produce radiation systems.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Tomotherapy Inc., which makes radiation therapy devices, said Thursday it plans to acquire a Chinese maker of equipment used to produce radiation systems.
 
Privately held manufacturer Chengdu Twin Peak Accelerator Technology Inc. is based in Chengdu, China.
 
Details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Tomotherapy said it expects to close the transaction within 90 days.
 
Tomotherapy also lowered its 2008 guidance.
 
Shares of Tomotherapy fell $3.85, or 28.8 percent, to $9.50 in aftermarket electronic activity. The stock earlier added 61 cents, or 4.8 percent, to end regular trading at $13.35. Shares have traded in a 52-week range of $12.50 to $27.58.
