Newell Rubbermaid Buys Japanese Car Seat Maker

Consumer-product maker acquired Aprica Childcare Institute Aprica Kassai Inc., a Japanese maker of strollers, car seats and other children's products.

ATLANTA (AP) -- Consumer-product maker Newell Rubbermaid on Tuesday said it has completed the acquisition of Aprica Childcare Institute Aprica Kassai Inc., a Japanese maker of strollers, car seats and other children's products.
 
Financial terms were undisclosed.
 
Closing on Aprica's operations in China is expected in the second quarter of 2008, Newell Rubbermaid said.
 
Newell Rubbermaid said the deal will provide it with a leading Japanese brand with proprietary technology in lightweight strollers and car seats.
