About 80 people will lose their jobs when Fairmont Products dairy plant in Belleville, Pa., owned by Texas-based Dean Foods, shuts down.

BELLEVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- About 80 people will lose their jobs when a Mifflin County dairy processing plant shuts down.
 
Employees of the Fairmont Products dairy plant in Belleville were told on Tuesday that the plant will be closing in October.
 
The plants closure will also affect local dairy farmers who supply milk to the plant.
 
The company is owned by Texas-based Dean Foods Co.
 
Dean Foods is a leading food and beverage company and the largest processor and distributor of milk and other dairy products in the country. The company sells products such as International Delight coffee creamers, Land O'Lakes creamers and other liquid dairy products.
 
The plant in Bellville manufactures mostly cottage cheese and ice cream.
 
Several attempts to contact a spokesman from Dean Foods were unsuccessful.
