LISTOWEL, Ont. (AP) -- Employees at a Campbell's facility near Kitchener, Ont., were told Monday the plant is shutting down.
A worker at the facility in Listowel, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) northwest of Kitchener, says they were given the news it would close within a year.
More than 400 people will be left without jobs.
Production will be suspended for the next few days while the company holds meetings about early retirement packages and other exit strategies.
Campbell's has been in Listowel for 48 years.
The plant specializes in frozen food, food service and specialty food.
