UAW Says American Axle Talks 'One-Way Street'

Union president Ron Gettelfinger says there's no movement toward settling a two-week strike at American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc.

DETROIT (AP) — United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger says there's no movement toward settling a two-week strike at American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc.

Gettelfinger said Tuesday on ''The Paul W. Smith Show'' on WJR-AM that talks have been a ''one-way street,'' with the Detroit-based auto supplier calling the shots. He says the two sides have been talking but formal negotiations ended Monday.

American Axle spokeswoman Renee Rogers says she didn't hear Gettelfinger's comments, but the two sides are communicating and meetings are set up for this week.

American Axle wants concessions like those the UAW gave to the three big Detroit-based automakers and parts makers Delphi Corp. and Dana Corp.
