LAI Wins Military Vehicle Armor Contract

Precision components and sub-assemblies supplier signed a manufacturing contract to produce critically needed armor kits for mine resistant ambush protected military vehicles.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — LAI International, a supplier of precision components and sub-assemblies for original equipment manufacturers, has signed a manufacturing contract to produce critically needed armor kits for mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) military vehicles.
 
LAI received the contract from Navistar Defense, which has received an award from the Pentagon for 4,475 of its 21-foot-long MaxxPro MRAP vehicles. The armor kits are produced at LAI's manufacturing facility in Maryland and shipped to Navistar's International Military and Government assembly plant in West Point, Miss.
 
MRAP is a joint services program managed by the Department of the Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. A total of 11,941 MRAP vehicles have been ordered by the joint services from several manufacturers with many to be shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan, according to reports on the orders.
