BOSCOBEL, Wis. (AP) — Philips Lighting Electronics North America plans to close its Advance Transformer lighting components plant in Boscobel, with layoffs of 188 workers expected to start April 6 and continue until about Sept. 30, the company has announced.
The company cited changes in technology and the marketplace.
Its plant-closing notice received Thursday by the state Department of Workforce Development said Advance Transformer would move its remaining magnetic ballast manufacturing operations to Juarez, Mexico.
The state agency's Dislocated Worker Program plans orientation sessions for workers Tuesday on assistance for them.
The agency is providing a $25,000 grant to the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board to begin providing services for the affected workers.
