Chrysler, Plastech Extend Temporary Supply Deal

After a federal judge ruled last week that Plastech can keep Chrysler's equipment as it works through its restructuring, the two companies agree to continue a temporary supply agreement until March 3.

DETROIT (AP) — Chrysler LLC is continuing to get parts from supplier Plastech Engineered Products Inc. until March 3.

Plastech had agreed to supply parts to Chrysler until Wednesday under a previous agreement, but Chrysler announced the new agreement Tuesday evening.

A message seeking comment was left with a Plastech spokesman. Plastech filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month. Chrysler wants to move its business to other suppliers, but a federal judge ruled last week that Plastech can keep Chrysler's equipment for now as it works through its restructuring.

Dearborn-based Plastech supplies Chrysler with about 500 plastic parts. Chrysler pays Plastech around $200 million (euro134.46 million) annually, or 13 percent of Plastech's overall sales.
