Reckitt Benckiser Closer To Adams Respiratory Buyout

U.K. household cleaning and personal care products maker clears a U.S. regulatory waiting period necessary to complete its $2.3 billion buyout.

NEW YORK (AP) — U.K. household cleaning and personal care products maker Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC said Tuesday it cleared a U.S. regulatory waiting period necessary to complete its $2.3 billion buyout of Adams Respiratory Therapeutics Inc.

The Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust waiting period was required before the maker of Lysol disinfectant and Woolite laundry detergent could buy the Chester, N.J.-based maker of over-the-counter drugs. It is part of the company's bid to move into the U.S. consumer health care market.

Both companies' boards of directors have approved the deal. The $60-per-share tender offer for Adams Respiratory expires Jan. 23.
