SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) — Tyson Foods says it is looking into allegations made by a Virginia-based animal rights organization about the company's slaughter practices at plants in Georgia and Tennessee.
The company says People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals claims two Tyson Foods poultry plants were improperly handling chickens.
The company says PETA apparently had someone pose as a worker last fall to get undercover video of chicken slaughter operations at plants in Union City, Tennessee, and Cumming, Georgia.
The Arkansas-based company says it is committed to proper animal handling and is cooperating with a USDA investigation into the allegation. The company says some of the videotaped activities warrant investigation, but others are misrepresented.
