Fuji Halts Greenwood X-Ray Film Production

Company says up to 45 employees could be affected when Fuji moves all of its X-ray film production to Japan at the end of March.

GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) — Fujifilm Manufacturing U.S. Inc. says it will no longer make X-ray film at its Greenwood plant.

The company says up to 45 employees could be affected when Fuji moves all of its X-ray film production to Japan at the end of March.

Fuji officials say they will move as many of the workers as they can into other jobs with the company.

Fuji says its X-ray film business has dropped sharply with the rise of diagnostic systems that use digital images and monitors like MRIs, CT scanners and ultrasound machines.

About 900 people work at Fuji's plant in Greenwood, which opened in 1988.
