Boeing Submits Proposal For $40 Billion Air Force Contract

Air Force is expected to select a contractor by Jan. 31; Boeing is competing against Northrop Grumman Corp. to make 179 KC-767 planes.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Aerospace company Boeing Co. said Thursday it submitted to the Air Force its final proposal for a $40 billion contract to design a refueling tanker plane to replace the KC-135 model.
 
The Air Force is expected to select a contractor by Jan. 31. Boeing is competing against Northrop Grumman Corp. to make 179 KC-767 planes. Boeing designed and built the current model.
 
Boeing shares rose 71 cents to $87.33 in midday trading.
