Dutch Airline Orders Seven Boeing 737s

Deal between the airplane maker and the low-cost airline transavia.com is listed as worth $523 million and includes the option for three more planes.

SEATTLE (AP) — Boeing has finalized an order from low-cost Dutch airline transavia.com for seven single-aisle 737 jets, plus options for three additional planes, the companies said Tuesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Boeing said the order was worth $523 million (euro358 million) at list prices, but airlines typically negotiate discounts.

Transavia.com, an independent unit of Air France-KLM, will fly the new 737-800s out of hubs in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. It has an all Boeing fleet of 29 737s.

The 737 is Boeing's best-selling plane.

As of Oct. 31, the Chicago-based company, which assembles its commercial jets in the Seattle area, had logged orders for more than 4,200 so-called Next-Generation 737s, which include four models from the 737-600 to the 737-900. It has unfilled orders for nearly 1,800 737s worth more than $125 billion (euro85.6 billion) at current list prices.
