SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) — Design software maker Autodesk Inc. said Thursday it plans to acquire Robobat, a privately held engineering software company, for about $42.5 million in cash, subject to a working capital adjustment.
Robobat, which is based in Grenoble, France, specializes in analysis, design, and steel and concrete detailing software for the structural engineering industry.
''Over the past year Autodesk and Robobat have continued to work closely on product integration and to resolve the business issues that prevented Autodesk from completing the acquisition in 2006,'' said Autodesk AEC solutions senior vice president Jay Bhatt in a statement.
Autodesk originally agreed to buy Robobat for $33 million in cash in September 2006, but the deal was not completed.
Autodesk said the acquisition is expected to reduce annual earnings per share by a penny in fiscal 2008 and 2009. Excluding in-process research and development expenses and the amortization of acquisition-related intangibles, the deal is expected to have no affect on 2008 or 2009 adjusted earnings per share, Autodesk said.
Also Thursday, Autodesk forecast fiscal 2008 earnings per share between $1.50 and $1.52. Excluding special items, the company expects adjusted earnings per share between $1.89 and $1.91.
