3M Buys Standard Abrasives

Conglomerate hopes to expand its portfolio for the metalworking industry; Simi Valley, Calif.-based Standard Abrasives employes about 375 people.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Diversified conglomerate 3M Co. said Thursday it acquired privately held abrasives maker Standard Abrasives to expand its portfolio for the metalworking industry.
 
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 
3M's abrasive technologies and brands include Cubitron, Scotch-Brite and Trizact. Standard Abrasives employs about 375 people and is headquartered in Simi Valley, Calif.
