Tenneco Closing French Emission Controls Plant

Auto parts maker shuttering factory to reduce production overcapacity in the region.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Auto parts maker Tenneco Inc. said Thursday it plans to shut a French factory that makes emission control products.

The company said it is closing the plant in Wissembourg, near the German city of Stuttgart, to reduce production overcapacity in the region.

Tenneco said it will work with local officials to address the effect on the facility's 180 employees. It did not say how many jobs, if any, would be cut.

The company plans to book up to $17 million in restructuring charges at some point, either in the fourth quarter this year or sometime in 2008.
