Toyota Considers Combining Hino, Isuzu Operations

Report claims automaker wants to create ''synergies'' between the two commercial truck producers in North America.

DETROIT (AP) - Toyota Motor Corp. may look at ways of combining manufacturing operations in North America of Hino Motors Ltd. and Isuzu Motors Ltd.—two Japan-based truck producers Toyota has close ties with, according to a newspaper report.

The carmaker wants to create ''synergies'' between the two commercial truck producers, The Wall Street Journal said in a published report on its Web site Thursday, citing senior executives at Toyota who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A possibility, the executives said, is to combine manufacturing of big medium- and heavy-duty trucks and developing demand for them, the newspaper said.
