M & S Precision Machining Announces Expansion Plans

Contract manufacturing company will invest $8 million to renovate its 75,000 square foot plant—ten times the size of its previous home.

GREENSBURG, Ind. (AP) - A contract manufacturing company that recently moved to a new home 10 times as big as its old site announced on Thursday plans to create more than 80 jobs.

M&S Precision Machining Inc. also will invest nearly $8 million to complete a renovation of its 75,000 square foot plant, the Indiana Economic Development Corp. said. In April, the company moved from a 7,500-square foot site about a block away.

The company plans to create 83 jobs by the end of 2009. It will hire operators, engineers and support staff, among other positions.

M&S said in a prepared statement that its customer base has doubled and business with existing customers has increased by about 150 percent.

The company currently employs 78 and provides contract manufacturing services to several businesses, including Caterpillar and Delta Faucet. It does not work with Honda Motor Corp., which is building a $550 million factory in Greensburg that it plans to open next year.

State officials provided up to $250,000 in tax credits to M&S Precision, and Greensburg offered a property tax abatement worth more than $300,000.
