Toyota Motor Corp. announced Friday that Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Ltd. (TKM) intends to open a technical training school for middle-school graduates in Bangalore, India.

The school, named the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), will be established in August for talented Indian youths who have problems continuing on to high school due to economic or other factors and will teach them specialized manufacturing skills.

TTTI will teach four technical-skill courses – painting, welding, automobile assembly and mechatronics, and will have a three year curriculum that combines academic classes on engineering with practical training at TKM.

Students at TTTI will live in a dormitory, be exempt from entrance fees and tuition, and be offered employment at TKM upon graduating. Sixty students will be accepted for 2007.
