Northrop Grumman Receives $287 Million Air Force Contract

Northrop Grumman Corp. has received an Air Force contract valued at $287 million for unmanned aerial systems.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. said Friday it has received an Air Force contract valued at $287 million for unmanned aerial systems.

The contract calls for Northrop Grumman to deliver five air vehicles, one mission control element, one launch and recovery element, four enhanced integrated sensor suites and sustaining support.

Northrop Grumman's Global Hawk unmanned aerial systems survey vast regions and relay real-time imagery intelligence back to troops.

Northrop Grumman will assemble the vehicle's fuselage at its Moss Point, Miss., site. Wing attachment and final assembly will occur at its Palmdale, Calif., site. The first vehicle in the order is under production and scheduled for delivery early next year. Work on the contract will continue through February 2009.
