IPS To Open First Thin-Film Battery Manufacturing Plant

36,795 square foot plant is in Littleton, Colo.

Infinite Power Solutions (IPS), a developer of thin-film batteries, said Monday that it has selected Littleton, Colo., for the world’s first thin-film battery manufacturing facility.

The 36,795 square foot facility will also serve as the company’s new corporate headquarters. IPS has a facility in nearby Golden, which will continue to provide technology and product development.

IPS raised over $35 million to finance the facility. IPS expects to begin using the building in March 2007.

IPS develops and manufactures solid-state, rechargeable, thin-film lithium batteries for use in portable and remote powered devices. Some applications for the IPS batteries include military and aerospace uses, smart cards, active RFID, implantable medical devices, embedded micro-controllers and wireless sensors.
