BorgWarner Expands South Korean Engine Plant

Annual volume of the plant will be three million engines by 2010.

BorgWarner said Monday it has almost doubled the size of its Engine Group manufacturing facility in Pyongtaek, South Korea, to meet demand for engine timing systems.

The 90,000 square foot plant will produce engine timing systems for Hyundai/Kia’s engines and the annual volume is expected to be three million engines by 2010.

“Throughout Asia, the demand for high-performance engine timing systems is expected to grow more than 30 percent over the next five years,” said Alfred Weber, president and general manager, BorgWarner Morse TEC.

BorgWarner produces highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications and has manufacturing and technical facilities in 63 locations in 18 countries.
