Expanding The Uses Of Thread Lockers

Traditionally, thread lockers are used only on threaded fasteners; however, the unique capabilities of Fibra-Stop from Tectorius/STS expand its use beyond traditional applications. Eliminating Vibration

A leading manufacturer of automotive components was experiencing a problem with its window regulators. Customers were hearing the amplified rattling of four window regulators within their vehicle doors. Any one noise in a car can create an annoyance. The hard plastic parts in the regulators were not fitting together properly, leaving room for vibration (and therefore, noise) in the pulley assembly. The manufacturer had to do something about this issue.

The regulators are made of plastic, strictly limiting any traditional thread lockers or adhesives from being used on the gear. The manufacturer was faced with investing an indefinitely large expense in research, new materials, redesign, and/or remake of the product.

Instead, Tectorius/STS was able to provide a solution for the company. We had them apply a few drops of Vibra-Stop to the gear spline, which acted as filler between parts, dampening vibration and eliminating noise. Unlike most thread lockers, Vibra-Stop is effective on plastic surfaces and does not cause any long-term damage.

Maintaining Equipment

HT Holsters is a company with a unique plastic pistol holster product. Firearms are secured with a lock mechanism to prevent unauthorized or unintended removal. The fast release switch is located in a natural and convenient spot, secured with a single screw. That one screw is vital to the proper functioning of the holster.

A problem arose because use of the holster and outside vibrations will gradually loosen the screw, causing the lock mechanism to malfunction. Since the product is made of plastic, traditional thread lockers would be ineffective and even damaging to the holster, exposing the officer or user to the danger of an unsecured firearm.

Tectorius/STS was able to overcome this issue. The unique chemical formula of Vibra-Stop allows for it to be used on a variety of materials including plastic, rather than only metallic fasteners. Vibra-Stop will not cause any damage to the plastic holster, and fasteners remained in place longer than they had before. Additionally, the unique reusability of Vibra-stop allows for the user to service their equipment for maintenance without the worry of stripping heads or threads.
