Japanese Car Makers Claim 'Top Picks ' in Annual Guide

For the first time, all the "top picks" in Consumer Report's annual vehicle guide are make by Japanese automakers.Honda earned five of the top 10 spots, including the Civic, Accord, Odyssey, Ridgeline and Acura TL. Toyota had two spots with its Prius and the Highlander Hybrid, and Subaru with the Forester and Impreza. The Infinti M35 rounded out the list. In 2004 and 2005, the only domestic car to make the list was the Ford Focus. Among the 21 "least satisfying" vehicles, 14 were domestic and seven were Asian. Consumer Reports named its top picks based on road and track tests, evaluations of comfort, convenience and fuel economy, crash protection ratings from the government and insurance industry and readers' reliability rankings.
