The clock is ticking for software giant Microsoft. According to a UPI report, the European Union is threatening to fine Microsoft up to $2.4 million daily if it does not comply with antitrust directives. The European Commission, which is the European Union's administrative arm, has given Microsoft five weeks to supply adequate information about its server programs to rivals or face fines. Previously the commission found that Microsoft had abused its dominant market position and ordered the company to share key software with competitors. Microsoft appealed the decision, but the appeal was rejected by the European Union's second-highest court, which warned the company to comply by Dec. 15 or face daily fines.
