Nordyne Missouri Plant To Cut 110 Jobs

Manufacturing.Net - November 04, 2009

BOONVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- The owners of the Nordyne plant in Boonville say 110 jobs will be cut at the plant next year.

The reduction equals about half the number of workers at the plant during busy times of the year.

Nordyne, based in O'Fallon, produces central heating and cooling systems for manufactured homes markets and outdoor sections of air conditioning systems.

Company spokeswoman Kari Palutis says sales of manufactured homes have dropped dramatically in the past decade. And she says federal minimum efficiency standards for air conditioners that were implemented in 2006 are prompting consumers to repair old systems rather than buy new ones.
