FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) -- A division of electric utility and manufacturer Otter Tail Corp. said on Wednesday it plans to build a $121 million wind energy facility in North Dakota by the end of the year.

Otter Tail Power Co. said it will build and own 48 megawatts of a projected 200-megawatt facility in Barnes County that will be operated by an affiliate of Juno Beach, Fla.-based FPL Group Inc.

The company said the Ashtabula Wind Center, about 75 miles northwest of Fargo, will be the largest wind energy farm in North Dakota. It is scheduled to start operating by the end of 2008.

In a statement, Otter Tail Power President Chuck MacFarlane said the project is the company's largest in more than 25 years.

Otter Tail said several regulatory requirements still must be met, including project application approval by the county.

Shares of Otter Tail lost a penny to $37.08 on Wednesday.
