NAM Criticizes Vote On Outer Continental Shelf Moratorium

WASHINGTON -- The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO John Engler issued a statement on the vote by the House Subcommittee on Interior Appropriations to extend the Congressional moratorium on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) for another year.

"By voting against the commonsense remedy to the energy crisis offered by Rep. John Peterson (R-PA) in his amendment to lift federal bans on energy development on the OCS, the House Subcommittee on Interior Appropriations opted instead to continue restrictions on domestic supplies of natural gas and oil and to keep energy prices at record highs for America's manufacturers and consumers," Engler said.

Engler noted the urgency to get energy costs under controls and criticized the House lawmakers for missing the chance to increase domestic natural gas and oil supplies.

"Lawmakers who vote against expanding access to domestic energy supplies will be held accountable by manufacturers for higher energy prices, a weaker economy and fewer jobs," Engler added. "We look forward to the full House Appropriations Committee revisiting this important issue next week."

exploring OCS and Denali  6/12/2008 10:43:00 AM
CEO John Engler of the NAM offers a common sense approach to help easing up our dependents on foreign oil. I highly reccomend any doubting readers to take a trip up to Alaska-Denali. I have more wildlife in my backyard! The carabou have actually produced more babies since the Alaskian pipeline has been in place. They warm themselves under the pipeline. Common on America! Let's try to exhaust all are obvious choices before we say no to options straying us right in the face.
Vote on domestic drilling  6/12/2008 11:18:00 AM
The problem is that the majority of coddled congresspeople who vote against this proposal do not pump their own gas. It's beneath them while they are chauffered around D.C. in government (the people) owned SUVs.

drilling for U.S. OIL  6/12/2008 5:35:00 PM
When I see more insanity issuing from our elected officials in Washington, I ask myself one question. Who or what country is spreading this much money money around Washington to help destroy this country? Could it be the OPEC nations?
Nam  6/17/2008 7:50:00 AM

Call or Email for Change  6/17/2008 1:08:00 PM
Fed up with those representing you in government not truly representing you? Call or email your senator, congressman, or representatives and tell them what you want! You can post objections and complaints on blogs all day and it won't make a difference. Call now!
