Iran Opposes OPEC Crude Output Hike

Manufacturing.Net - July 22, 2008

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iranian Oil Minister says his country is opposed to any crude output increase by the cartel in its September meeting in Vienna, Austria.

Gholam Hossein Nozari was speaking to reporters in Tehran Tuesday on the sidelines of a petrochemical conference. He says market conditions at present are in a "good situation" and should be maintained heading toward winter.

Iran is OPEC's second largest oil producer and is estimated to be No. 2 in terms of global natural gas reserves.

Oil prices have been pushed up higher all year, partly because of the standoff between the West and Iran over its disputed nuclear program.

All the more reason to DRILL in AMERICA. When are these "dopes" in Washington going to get it? Piglosi has hijacked the Congress. The Democraps are WORTHLESS! The American people have had enough of these do nothing idiots in Washington who continue to collect a fat paycheck. Do you think for one second these a** holes are feeling the pain at the pump, or the rising cost for food? NOPE they could care less what the poor "serfs" do and their meger lifestyles. We need to overthrow this bloated, self serving, do nothing government before it's too late for the middle class people. These jerks are so out of touch with the everyday man and woman it's sickning. We need to take care of the people in THIS country, and stop sending Billions to the same jerks that want us destroyed. I hope there are some real people out in America that want to change things instead of talking out the side of their a**es. We are fed up Washington! Do you hear us yet? YOU WILL, SOON.......
Congress  7/22/2008 6:19:00 PM
I am only voting for only on incumbent - the rest have had thier opportunity and they have failed - Join me!
I agree, Washington politicians are out of touch.  7/22/2008 6:42:00 PM
I hope Washington hears us. We should drill in the US since we are more careful of the environment then the Arabs are. They spill oil all over the place and get our hard earned dollars. Our politicians are killing our economy and the middle class. I see approval rating of the house and Nancy Polousy is the lowest ever in history. I declare that we vote the Demorats out and the RINO Republicrats too. Do not vote for McCain or Obama, they are both part of the corrupt parties, we need an Independant who is looking out for the common folk, the middle class and the people who are hard working and supporting the rest of the nation in taxes. Look at the Ron Paul revolutionary ideas for solving some of our financial crisis. Call your representatives and flood them with the message that we need to drill to keep America strong and lower prices for the rest of the world while we are at it. Europe pays twice to three times as much as we do, let's do the world a favor and start drilling. At the same time let's invest in Nuclear Energy and look to alternatives. Keep in mind wind power is killing thousands or birds with those giant turbo props, how do you fly planes on solar and wind power we still need crude oil. Wake up you stupid morrons who listen to the politicians lies, about taking ten years to get oil from our country, it is a lie, the politicians want the kick backs from the Arabs, make no mistake about it, they are getting rich off of the dumb surfs who are buying into the lies of wind power, hydrogen, alcohol and solar as being viable replacements for oil. We need them all or our economy and our bank accounts are going to be run further into the ground. Thank you for listening, now go out and do something about it. Just say no to the two parties that are drunk with power and greed..

You speak the truth, what virtually every working class natural born American believes but fails to verbalize. Every rational being on the planet knows the leadership in Iran is FAR beyond the Lunatic Fringe.
settlementS  7/22/2008 6:46:00 PM
Let's hope the US tries to get these unfortunate matters settled. http://www.theoildrum.com/node/4138/359968 An attack on Iran is likely do bad things for our lifestyles. Both here and in Iran.
Re: Iran  7/22/2008 7:00:00 PM
While it would be hard to disagree with your post about idiots in Washington (collectively), this particular problem is due to the Republicrats. Even the article lists the West-Iran standoff as a primary cause of inflated oil prices. Now we have the next armchair warrior, McCain, increasing the tension more. While Pelosi may be against offshore drilling, Jeb Bush (ex-governor Florida Republican) made banning offshore drilling a big part of his government. The current Republicans are lost to the conservative cause of smaller government, because they only wanted smaller government when it wasn't Republican controlled. Time to make all of our "leaders" know that they work for us and come down off their thrones.

Both the democraps and the republicraps are worthless! Don't forget that the republicraps controlled congress and the white house for a decade and NOTHING HAPPENED! Americans need a new political movement.
free from foreign oil??  7/22/2008 9:02:00 PM
While in Alaska, on Air Force business in the early 70's I was on an Alaska A.Lines plane returning to Anchorage. Also on board were a group of oil well drillers who were celebrating "bringing in one of, if not the largest deposit of oil in history". On Duck Island, estimated to make the USA free of dependence on foreign oil for up to 50 years or more. I was further informed that it would be announced that evening on National News. I looked all evening for the announcement, there was none. Next morning I again met the same gentleman (I was talking to on the airplane) while having breakfast. I asked about the oil well not being on the news. He stated, all they did was bring it in for some oill company and they were further instructed not to discuss it any further with anyone. I also found out from him that well had been capped and apparently still is. And-- they are still drilling or planning to drill on Duck Island as of last week July 14, 2008. Is someone or group in the USA helping OPEC screw the USA and our friends?? You reading this Tom?
Drill in America  7/23/2008 7:26:00 AM
We must work to become energy independent by drilling for oil and the continuing effort to produce additional means of power. Our Senate and Congress constantly display their lack of VISION and they have no concern about the future of energy. They have all served to long in their positions and lost sight of what is happening in the US and world. WAKE UP AMERICA, lets demand a wake up call or through them out of office!

to think we continue to fight battles in the East for these countries who have us over the proverbial barrel. might have been cheaper to just BUY Iraq and claim the wealth the country holds. Shame on Iraq they could benefit from working with the west. i've got $20 that should buy me a couple of acres of sand in the litter box of the East.
Iran  7/23/2008 8:13:00 AM
I totally agree with "Drill in America" It's time to take back the United States from the corrupt who are bleeding this country and turn it into a place our founding fathers would approve of.
Drill here. Drill now. Let's go.  7/23/2008 9:21:00 AM
Drill here. Now.
Iran Opposes OPEC Crude Output Hike  7/23/2008 10:53:00 AM
America's drilling operations today produce 1/3 the oil we need and use (cars, war supplies, etc). The other 2/3 we import from OPEC. We need to stop our dependancy on foriegn imports. The market is behaving like a typical macro-economic system. Demand goes up, supply goes down, price goes up. If demand goes down, supply goes up, price comes down. OPEC wants the supply to STAY down so that the PRICE can stay UP!! The USA should drill MORE and import less - along with finding alternet sources for power and building a car that gets 150 mpg. Then OPEC can eat thier oil. Congress has to get this through their "Mentally Athritic Heads". WE need to drill more wells and lower our oil dependancy - DO BOTH!
Drilling in America  7/23/2008 12:52:00 PM
You can watch time after time the congressional commitees trying to rake the oil companies over. Nothing happens. What was interesting was in one of the meeting the CEO of Exxon stated that they could, if allowed, pull oil from the shell in Montana, Wyoming, & Colorado for about $40.00 a barrel. That's all good but, what would they sale it for. I'm guessing the market price not $40.00. There is no control. They all agreed that they could replace 25% of our imported oil by doing this. If the price of the oil is the same, then the price to the consumer will remain the same. All of the major oil companies except Exxon are now owned by corporations in other countries outside the United States. Any other source of energy has to be looked at. If windmills are killing birds then put sound units on them to scar birds away. Birds fly into things and are killed all the time. Should we stop building buildings because birds fly into them. I guess it won't make a difference when enough of the monetary value is stolen from the middle class they won't have enough money to build or buy anything anyway. George Bush Senior stated that the class of 69 ruined the country. Baby boomer unite. When you go to the poles make a statement. Hey George, we're retired and now we are back. We will have some free time. We control the vote. We will change things, as we as Americans have the right to do and should.
Oil provided By Greed!!! God will prevail!!!  7/24/2008 1:20:00 PM
America needs to reclaim its country. Politicians and Lawyers are destroying Gods Kingdom. There is so much greed in this world anymore. America is selling out. The powerful decision makers and the wealthy are violating Gods purpose. Greed will destroy America and the eventually the Oil ministers. Believe in him and do the right thing!
