BUTTE, Mont. (AP) -- The construction of a $25 million wind turbine manufacturing facility here is on track to begin next spring, even after the project was previously delayed.

Fuhrlander AG, the German company proposing the facility, had delayed the project in August.

Evan Barrett with the Governor's Office of Economic Development said then that the company was focusing on getting a new plant in Germany open first.

Fraser McLeay, who is writing the company's feasibility study and strategic business plan, said Monday there were "no problems" and the plant was "continuing to move ahead."

Several attempts to contact Fuhrlander representatives Monday were unsuccessful.

McLeay and Jim Smitham, executive director of the Butte Local Development Corporation, said Fuhrlander had been waiting for the Renewable Energy Bill to pass Congress, which it did over the summer.

The bill includes more than $17 billion in tax credits for renewable energy companies and helped make the Butte plant "economically feasible," Smitham said.

Gov. Brian Schweitzer announced the project in March and said the facility would create about 150 jobs.
