SEATTLE (AP) -- Boeing Co. said Tuesday it has made the first European delivery of the latest version of its iconic 737 jetliner series.

The aircraft maker said it delivered two 737-900ER planes to aircraft leasing company GE Commercial Aviation Services last week for lease to Spanish carrier Futura International Airways. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The ''extended range'' 737-900ER is the latest version of Boeing's mid-size 737, and is able to carry more passengers and fly farther than earlier models. Boeing began the 737-900ER program in July 2005. The 737 is the Chicago-based company's most popular model.

Futura, based in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, operates 32 Boeing planes. It was created by Irish carrier Aer Lingus in 1989.

Boeing shares fell 17 cents to $85.75 in premarket trading.
